How is a high-quality knitted sweater made

1. Wool knitting is different from cotton knitting. During the flat knitting process, it is directly woven with yarn. Just like when we knit a sweater, a single strand of wool yarn cannot be continuous from beginning to end. Therefore, in this process, workers will choose the knotting method to connect each strand of wool yarn. Generally speaking, a knitted sweater cannot be without knots. However, for a high-quality knitted sweater, its knots are always hidden in inconspicuous areas such as the side seams and armpits.

2 Another manifestation of the workmanship quality of a knitted sweater is the flowered hem, which is known in the industry as the "open stitching" (open stitching), often seen at the neckline and the shoulder area. Generally speaking, in a knitted sweater, whether it's the stitches or the cuffs, they are always much more valuable than the overlock. Some sweaters, when we open them up, we can see that the junction between the garment pieces and the sleeves has a cuffed edge similar to that of woven or cotton knitting. In fact, this definitely cannot be classified as a high-quality product in the field of wool knitting. To go a bit further, in foreign trade exports, there is an appropriate price gap between sweaters with cuffs and those with overlock edges.

3 From the perspective of the fabric surface of a sweater, the stitch path is a very crucial point. It's those little braids we see. They must be uniform and of the same size. If the needle path thickness is uneven, it indicates that the knitting equipment code was not properly adjusted during the loom process or there are coarse and fine fibers in the yarn.

4 Knitted sweaters are divided into two types: hand-hooked or hand-knitted and machine-woven. Hand-hooked sweaters are flexible and diverse, which cannot be replaced by knitting machines. However, they have a low output value and are thus expensive. Hand-hooked sweaters are mainly distributed in the Shantou area. The commonly used needle types in knitting machines include :1.5 stitches, 3 stitches, 5 stitches, 7 stitches, 9 stitches, 12 stitches, 14 stitches, 16 stitches, 18 stitches, etc. (The so-called needle type mainly refers to the number of stitches placed in one inch. The more stitches there are, the finer the note, the finer the yarn used, and the higher the price. The higher the process requirements, the higher the processing fee.)
